Weekly SPI inflation up 1.89pc

The Sensitive Price Index-based inflation for the week ending March 11, 2026, increased by 1.89 percent, mainly due to a 20.60 percent rise in petrol prices and a 19.54 percent increase in diesel prices. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistic (PBS), on a Week on Week (WoW) basis, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) price went up by 12.13 percent, onions 9.63 percent, bananas 1.44 percent, wheat flour 1.28 percent, chicken 0.66 percent, Pulse Mash 0.55 percent, firewood 0.38 percent, pulse gram 0.10 percent, fresh milk 0.08 percent, and cooked beef 0.02 percent. On WoW basis, a decline is witnessed in the prices of tomatoes3.66percent, potatoes 2.86 percent, garlic 0.42 percent, Rice IRRI-6/9 and pulse masoor0.19 percent each, mustard oil 0.16 percent, pulse moong 0.12 percent, and sugar 0.09 percent.
