Pakistan’s total debt, liabilities rise to Rs100tr in FY26
Pakistan's total debt and liabilities rose to Rs99.59tr in FY26, up 5.51% YoY from Rs94.39tr in FY25, data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showed. The breakup shows total debt stood at Rs97.88tr while total liabilities stood at Rs3.42tr during the period under review. The country's total debt comprised three components: gross government domestic debt, PSEs' domestic debt, and external debt, amounting to Rs59.44tr, Rs2.24tr, and Rs36.20tr respectively. External debt which includes government external debt, non-government external debt, the country's debt from the IMF, and intercompany external debt from direct investors abroad jumped 3.14% YoY, up from Rs35.10tr in FY25.
