Goods export: PTEA cautions govt about steep decline
Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA), Khurram Mukhtar, has cautioned the government about a steep decline in Pakistan’s goods exports in the second quarter of FY27, warning that the textile sector is facing mounting pressure from multiple directions. He said high inflation in Western markets had sharply depressed buyer demand, while sea freight charges had surged 1.5 to 2.5 times, further eroding already thin profit margins. Rising input and logistics costs were also making Pakistani exports increasingly uncompetitive in international markets.
